New look for Blake’s Auto Body!

Blake’s Auto Body recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and decided it was time for a new look. The auto body chain with stores in San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa recently unveiled a new logo with a modern and fun feel. It features a line drawing of a car with a free-hand style in red with the company name in two styles of blue lettering.

“The new logo works hand-in-hand with our forward-looking philosphies,” said owner Blake Andros. “The last overhaul occurred in the late ‘90s, so it was about time we updated our look — keeping up with our reputation to embrace the future with the newest technology, equipment and environmentally friendly practices before they are even part of the mainstream.”

The logo represents that Blake’s Auto Body repairs all of the most advance vehicles from electric cars to collectors to the most expensive cars on the road.

The new identity is being unveiled on all of the outside signage as well as in the firm’s television commercials, advertising and other collateral. Blake’s Auto Body is a member of the San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa chambers of commerce, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power
Partnership.

Blake’s Auto Body celebrates 30 years in business

Nov. 15, 2010

It’s been 30 years since Blake Andros founded Blake’s Auto Body in 1980 after working on cars in his driveway. He now has four successful locations in Marin and Sonoma counties and has continued the company growth due to maintaining personal relationships within the business community and quality workmanship — but not ignoring progress by initializing a slew of green business practices and a track record of producing award-winning television commercials.

“I am always in a growth mode,” Andros said. “No matter what the economy is doing I am always ready for the next business wave. My stores in San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa have all been rebuilt and refreshed. I see the next big business boom right around the corner.”

Andros’ son, father and brother all are part of the Blake’s Auto Body team that includes 85 employees at the sites in San Rafael, Novato, Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa. Most of the painters, estimators and technicians have worked with the company for years. Blake’s Auto Body offers state-of-the-art body shops with more than 50,000 square feet that are conveniently located.

When Andros was only 19, he opened a small collision shop in San Francisco, making it gratifying to see his now 26-year-old son Nick continue in his footsteps. Wanting to work in his home county, Andros opened the first Blake’s location in San Rafael and in 1986 purchased a second site in Novato. Santa Rosa followed in 1998 followed by the purchase and rebuilding of Rohnert Park Towing, which now houses the company’s corporate headquarters at 5500 State Farm Drive in Rohnert Park.

Protecting the environment was always a top priority for Andros, who converted the corporate headquarters to solar power, becoming the largest privately owned solar-producing facility in Northern California at the time. The Novato shop was also switched to solar energy. Blake’s Auto Body was designated a member of the Green Power Partnership by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2003 and received a best practice award from the Sonoma Business Environmental Alliance.

Blake’s Auto Body was at the forefront using Waterborne paints, being one of the first shops to use the system, which blends paints with water as opposed to chemical solvents. Law now requires these paints.

With an ever-increasing busy society, the chain has also added more convenience to its services, providing mobile and online estimates. Representatives can go to client’s home or place of business and with the use of digital cameras and laptops provide immediate estimates for repairs.

Andros has continued to promote his auto body chain with innovative, usually funny television commercials, which have won several awards through the years. They have become a trademark for Blake’s with many competitors imitating the spots.

“I am always ready to go,” Andros said, regarding his future plans. There is no slowing down the entrepreneur who also owns the Southern Marin restaurant Brick & Bottle and spends his free time in Clear Lake, skiing or entertaining at his Novato home.

AT&T Announces Industry-First Financing Initiative to Help
Small Businesses Secure ‘Game-Changing’ Wireless Solutions

AT&T Capital Services Provides Cash-Strapped Small Businesses With Loans
For AT&T Wireless Devices, Wireless Data Plans, and Mobile Applications

WASHINGTON, dc, Sept. 28, 2010 — With access to capital among their biggest challenges, cash-strapped small businesses got some good news today from AT&T*. Through its financing subsidiary, AT&T Capital Services, the company is now providing loans to small businesses looking to deploy new wireless solutions or upgrade existing ones.

Cathy Martine, AT&T Executive Vice President – Small Business Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions, made the announcement during her keynote speech at the annual Women Impacting Public Policy Conference in Washington DC this morning.

Until recently, AT&T Capital Services financing had focused on traditional wired communications solutions, including office phone systems and equipment, high speed Internet, maintenance and associated software.

“With more than 25 years experience in communications financing, we know the challenges that small businesses face and understand that today, perhaps more than ever before, access to capital is critical to sustaining their operations,” Martine said. “Our goal is to provide small businesses with access to new options for funding game-changing wireless solutions, to help them innovate and grow and, ultimately, to serve as a catalyst to jumpstart this critical engine for U.S. economic recovery.”

Since recently introducing wireless solutions financing, AT&T Capital Services has closed loans totaling several hundred thousand dollars, with deals totaling several million dollars in the pipeline. The organization finances transactions as small as $1,000 in support of organizations purchasing AT&T business solutions.

AT&T Capital Services was established in 1984 to finance business customer purchases of AT&T products and services by converting one-time, upfront costs into monthly payments.

To date, the organization has recorded more than $6 billion in contract originations for more than 5,000 commercial and municipal customers. Benefits of AT&T financing include:

·         Minimal capital outlay – allows customers to avoid down payments and make easy monthly payments that fit their budgets

·         Lifecycle management – minimizes risk of technological obsolescence

·         Packaged solution – offers one-stop shopping and a simple contracting process

·         Reliability –AT&T Capital Services does not sell its loans, holding and servicing them for their entire term

·         Alternate source of credit to preserve bank credit line

·         Competitive rates

“In recent months, we’ve made loans to small businesses to meet a variety of needs,” said Anthony Lewis, President of AT&T Capital Services, “ranging from smartphones and other mobile devices equipped with fleet management or GPS tracking applications to the rollout of netbooks and laptops embedded with mobile broadband and Wi-Fi capabilities. Bottom line, AT&T is in a position to meet the communications needs of small businesses that are challenged by tight budgets.”

Small businesses interested in finding out more about opportunities afforded by AT&T Capital Services, should contact their authorized AT&T Sales representative. If they don’t have an authorized AT&T representative, they can call 866-323-6955.

Here comes the neighborhood.

Conservation Corps North Bay will be holding its Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Cotati on September 1 from 4:30 – 7:30pm.  But they’ve been hard at work making Sonoma County a better place to live for the past year.
Since 1982, CCNB has provided thousands of at risk youth in Marin County with education, skills and a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves while preserving and nurturing rapidly dwindling natural resources.
In response to increases in gangs, juvenile crime and unemployment in Sonoma County, CCNB opened its doors here last year.  In that short time, they’ve enrolled more than 30 youth in their natural resources management and community recycling programs. CCNB has already celebrated the high school graduation of 11 of those Sonoma youth and changed their life trajectories.  They’ve also restored 16 acres of wildlife habitat and constructed 14 miles of trail, and diverted 60,381 pounds of recyclable materials from landfill in Sonoma County.
This summer CCNB also expanded its popular Project ReGeneration summer youth program to Sonoma County. 20 sixth to ninth graders participated in this program with its unique combination of environmental service, education, and outdoor recreation.
CCNB does it by joining forces with local land management agencies and businesses, such as the Sonoma County Water Agency, Sonoma County Agricultural Open Space and Preservation District, Sonoma County Regional Parks and the Sonoma Ecology Center, to provide training and mentorship opportunities to young people. Youth learn green skills, teamwork and gain valuable work experience while getting the education they need to thrive in today’s job market.
CCNB’s September 1st Open House in Cotati is not only a community event introducing a great new addition to the neighborhood, it’s a celebration of the work they’ve already done to improve it.  Refreshments, entertainment and program demonstrations led by local youth will be available. 365 Blodgett Street, Cotati.
